Gretta Walters Speaks at the 38th AAA-ICDR – ICC – ICSID Joint Colloquium on International Arbitration

May 2024—Chaffetz Lindsey’s Gretta Walters spoke at the 38th AAA-ICDR – ICC – ICSID Joint Colloquium on International Arbitration on Tuesday, May 21^st in Washington, D.C.

Gretta participated in the panel “Enter the Shark Tank: Judging the Most Impactful Innovations in Arbitral Practice” which brought together arbitrators and practitioners to share their proposals for innovative tools to modernize international arbitration— particularly with respect to time and cost. The session used a Shark Tank-style setup with panelists presenting pitches and judges deciding on their top choice. Guled Yusuf (Allen & Overy) and Katie Gonzalez (Cleary Gottlieb) joined Gretta as the pitchers while Eduardo Zuleta (Arbitration Chambers), Marinn Carlson (MCarlson Arbitration PLLC) and Theresa Coetzee (Marriott International) acted as judges.

For over forty years, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, the International Chamber of Commerce International Court of Arbitration, and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution of the American Arbitration Association have co-sponsored the Joint Colloquium on International Arbitration. The Colloquium featured updates on trends and initiatives from the three institutions, interactive sessions on issues at the forefront of commercial and investment arbitration, and an opportunity to network with practitioners and arbitrators from around the world.
