Chaffetz Lindsey International Arbitration Team Cracks Chambers Global 2019 Rankings

February 2019 – Chambers & Partners has released its 2019 Global Guide and recognized Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration practice. The firm’s International Arbitration practice has consistently been ranked in Chambers USA and Latin America, but this marks the first time Chaffetz Lindsey as a firm has been listed in the global rankings.  David Lindsey and Aníbal Sabater continue to be individually ranked as well.

Chambers Global states the firm “earns recognition for its deep expertise in cross-border arbitration disputes” and is “well regarded for its excellent experience in investment treaty and commercial arbitration.” The publication also highlights the firm’s “notable expertise concerning disputes arising in the energy, construction and insurance sectors” and “has additional capabilities concerning disputes involving European and Asian jurisdictions.”

Clients tell Chambers they recommend the firm for its ”practical, business-minded advice,” remarking: “The lawyers are extremely responsive…the level of client service is exceptional” and “the firm’s cross-border capabilities and co-ordination are excellent.” Another source said “They are smart, fast and proactive,” whilst “being very calm and giving a lot of confidence to the client.”

Aníbal Sabater to Speak on an Arbitrator’s Obligation to Issue an Enforceable Award

February 2019 – On Thursday, February 14th, Aníbal Sabater will lead a discussion at a meeting of the New York International Arbitration Club on “An Arbitrator’s Obligation to (try to) Issue an Enforceable Award: Achmea and Beyond.” Aníbal will focus on what the obligation means in practice – including whether it is being used as an excuse to run processes inefficiently, and how the recent ruling in Achmea has given it an unexpected new life.

The New York International Arbitration Club aims to promote best practices in arbitration as a means of settling international commercial disputes.

Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration Team Recognized by Legal 500 Latin America 2019

September 2018 – Legal 500 Latin America has released the 2019 edition, and Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration practice continues to be top-ranked in the region. According to the ranking summary, one client stated “‘outstanding’ dispute resolution boutique firm Chaffetz Lindsey LLP ‘provides the advantages of a boutique firm in which partners and senior lawyers are very knowledgeable and well versed in the details of specific matters – but is simultaneously readily available and has very short response times in respect of a broad variety of matters, as a full-service law firm would be’.”

August 2018 – Chambers Latin America has released their 2019 edition, and Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration practice continues to be top-ranked in the region. According to the Chambers Latin America ranking summary, one client said, “I am extraordinarily pleased with the team’s performance. The level of detail in the preparation for the hearing and the performance itself were both excellent.”

Partners David Lindsey, James Hosking, Aníbal Sabater and Yasmine Lahlou were highlighted as notable practitioners.

Aníbal Sabater Quoted in Spanish Newspaper Expansión

April 2017 – Spain’s leading business newspaper Expansión quoted partner Aníbal Sabater in an article entitled “Los inversores españoles de Popular podrán unirse a las demandas en EEUU [Spanish investors of Popular can join lawsuits in the US]” about class actions in the United States.  The article was prompted by news that several US law firms are seeking shareholders of Spanish bank Banco Popular to file a class action lawsuit over losses of the bank’s value over the past several years.  Aníbal is quoted explaining the procedure for forming and initiating class action lawsuits in US courts.  The article was published in the April 6, 2017 print edition of Expansión.
